So Memorial Day is Monday, thus making this weekend memorial day weekend. This means pools are opening, sales are happening and summer is really starting! I’m beyond excited so I felt a little ‘America-70s’ love day would be just the ticket to begin thinking about Memorial Day.

70s boho for your viewing pleasure. What makes an outfit vintage? I believe at least one piece should be at least 10 years old or older. It doesn’t necessarily have to be thrifted or even a hand-me-down, honestly you could just hold onto a piece of fashion from your teen years and wear it again somehow in your mid-adult life (trust me it WILL come back into fashion). As fashion is cyclical, meaning its a cycle, everything eventually does come back into style. Maybe you’re as tired as I am of hearing your mother or other women proclaiming, “OH, I used to wear that in high school!” Well, now you can reply that, “fashion is in fact a 10 year cycle, so YES indeed you may have worn that skirt/dress/bracelet/etc in your youth but now its back and updated to make it more key to this era!” Everything comes back so recycle, recycle, RECYCLE!

Ie thrifted vintage crochet skirt, grandmother’s siam bracelet, mother’s black crochet vest, soprano’s tank top, SMU studded belt.

Oh boy i love the pale teal heels and spring shorts

Hmmm….Pride & Prejudice reference in a fashion magazine maybe?? Certainly looks like it. My favorite aspect of magazines is when they create their own unique stories or use popular literary references to show case a particular line.

"It seems only yesterday I used to believe
there was nothing under my skin but light.
If you cut me I would shine.
But now when I fall upon the sidewalks of life,
I skin my knees. I bleed."

- Billy Collins, from “On Turning Ten” (via growing-orbits)

I loved this poem growing up.

Isn’t that the truth? It’s hard sometimes to reach past what you’re used to, or even push yourself into the unknown. Its all well and good to say you want that, but to actually be faced with the option to do something variably different, well, its easier said then done. Right now that is what I’m being faced with. I’m ready to move on with life, to find something more out there. However, I have lived in a town now through my college years and onward, finding my true self within the confines of this city’s parameters. Now, like I did once before almost 8 years ago, I am facing another step in life another journey into cities I have no familiarity with. Its so scary and even though I want it desperately, and I even have someone to go with, I am so afraid of what will happen if I pursue this option. I suppose all we have in life though are these options and we must push the parameters to truly see who we are as individuals and see what life really has to offer. And through our mistakes we learn, isn’t that always how it goes. Hmm, I know I should find solace in all of this, but instead my insides are in turmoil and I am rather anxious of the future. I don’t know where I’m going anymore, but…I am going non-the-less.

I just think this is fabulous!
